Zubi Design | Bolsos Made in Spain

Así se llama la marca de bolsos de fabricación 100% nacional que se ha colado, tras sólo un año desde que fue creada, en los vestidores de muchas (conocidas) españolas y en las páginas de las principales revistas de moda de nuestro país. Zubi es un nombre corto, sencillo, pero cargado de valores y más cuando conoces a quiénes están detrás de él: Mercedes y Elena Zubizarreta. Dos hermanas, muy distintas pero complementarias, que han convertido el sueño de trabajar juntas en la realidad más gratificante que jamás imaginaron. 

That's the name of the spanish handbags which, after only one year since it was created, is already in the closet of many (known) spanish girls and also in the pages of the main spanish fashion magazines. Zubi is a short name, simple but full of values ​​and more when you know who is behind it: Mercedes and Elena Zubizarreta. Two sisters, very different, but complementary, that have made true the dream of working together.

Todo empezó en un cumpleaños. Cuando Mercedes diseñó y cosió a mano un bolso especial con el que quería sorprender a su hermana en esa fecha tan señalada. Y sí, la sorprendió, pero no sólo a ella ya que ese bolso, el primer Zubi sin saberlo, fue el reclamo de todos los asistentes de la fiesta. En vez de hacerlos porque sí, como quien hace un encargo a modo de favor a un amigo, estas dos hermanas, una arquitecta y otra profesional del marketing, supieron ver la oportunidad que les daba la vida y se lo tomaron muy en serio desde el principio. Afinaron los números, apostaron por la calidad y mano de obra española y el resultado fue un producto excepcional al que no le ha hecho falta llegar a rebajas porque las dos colecciones presentadas hasta el momento se han vendido en su totalidad.

This amazing project started on a birthday. Mercedes designed and sewed a special handbag as a present to surprise her sister Elena. And yes, she did it, but not only Elena was surprised but the rest of people at the party. Everybody wanted that handbag!.  Instead of making them as a favor for a friend, these two sisters, an architect and a marketing consultant, saw the opportunity life was giving them so they started working very seriously since the very beginning. The result was an exceptional product that didn't need to be on sales because the two collections presented so far have been sold.

Tener un Zubi (o dos o tres...) es tener un básico. Pero qué básico. Diseño sencillo, que no simple. Formato versátil, perfecto para el día, la tarde o la noche. Y con un estampado tan especial y personal que puedes comprar los que quieras que no te cansas nunca de ellos. Un estampado que, en parte, es el alma del producto al tratarse de fotografías tomadas personalmente por Mercedes y Elena allí donde van y ven algo bonito.
Having a Zubi (or two or three ...) is having a basic handbag. But what a basic one!. Simple, versatile, perfect for day, evening or night. And with so special prints that you can buy as many Zubis as you want because you will never get tired of them. Prints that somehow are the soul of the product. They are photographs taken by Mercedes and Elena wherever they go and see something beautiful.

En la colección nº 1, apostaron por paisajes de lugares lejanos y cercanos transmitiendo muchas sensaciones a través del color.

In the first collection, Zubi bet on landscapes full of colour feelings.

En la colección nº 2, quisieron acercarse más al objeto fotografiado, convirtiendo la imagen en casi un cuadro abstracto.

In the second, Zubi wanted to get closer to the object photographed, making the image seemed almost an abstract painting.

Y en la actual colección, la nº 3, evocan los mejores y más relajantes momentos vividos en verano a través de paisajes en tonos pastel. La campaña, homenaje a las naturalezas muertas de nuestra historia pictórica, juega de forma divertida a crear bodegones con bolsos Zubi al más puro estilo de Zurbarán, Juan de Arellano o Pedro Camprobín.
And in the current collection, the third, Zubi evokes the best and most relaxing summer moments through landscapes in pastel colours. The campaign, a tribute to some spanish painters, plays with Zubi handbags as if they were part of  master pieces of  Zurbaran, Juan de Arellano and Pedro Camprobín.

¿Quién se atreve con algo tan básico pero al vez tan tremendamente original? Sólo el que está muy seguro de sí mismo y de su producto. Y Mercedes y Elena lo están. Tienen muy claro el horizonte, no en vano comparten archivo de vida y sueños por los que luchar. Saben que lo que han conseguido en sólo un año es, cuanto menos, sorprendente, pero creen en su marca y piensan que si han conquistado al corazón de las españolas, conquistarán también al de las europeas. 

Who dares making something so basic but yet so wildly original? Only someone who is very sure of himself and his product. And Mercedes and Elena are so. They know it's amazing having this success in just one year is, but these sisters believe in their brand and think that if spanish women have felt in love with Zubi why don't the europeans?

¿Cómo? Haciendo las maletas, llenándolas de Zubis y partiendo hacia París el mes que viene para presentar en Who's Next sus nuevas colecciones. Unas colecciones que, me han dejado adelantaros, vienen con más color, sabor y fuerza que nunca.  

How? Packing and taking Zubis to Paris next month to present at Who's Next their new collections. Collections they told me as a "secret" will be coloured, flavoured and stronger than ever.

París caerá rendido a sus pies y en España estaremos esperando para celebrarlo.
